LEARN HOW CLOTHES RECYCLING HELP UK CHARITIES

ABOUT US

After being in the used clothing recycling business for over 15 years, we have learned better and more environmentally friendly ways to collect and sell used clothing, while also raising vital funds for our charity partners. People can now donate clothes confidently, knowing that their pre-loved items will find a new home, and heavily worn clothes will be recycled ethically. As a company, we have an extensive network of experienced buyers across Europe who can sell all used clothing and recycle at least 95% of unusable clothes.

We arrange clothes collections upon receipt of an online enquiry through our website, which is hassle-free and easy to use. This way, we reduce plastic waste and harmful emissions generated from fuel, as our drivers only visit houses and businesses that have arranged a clothes collection.

With 15 years of experience in textile recycling, we have observed an increase in the use of wasteful resources to generate used clothing. It involves dropping millions of plastic bags and then using countless gallons of fuel to collect those bags from door to door, with returns of only 3% for every 1,000 bags posted.

Did you know

According to The Waste and Resources Action Programme (WRAP)

  • The average UK household owns around £4,000 worth of clothes.
  • Around 30% of clothing in wardrobes has not been worn for at least a year.
  • The cost of this unused clothing in the wardrobe is estimated to be around £30 billion.
  • An estimated £140 million worth (around 350,000 tonnes) of used clothing goes to landfill in the UK every year.
  • Two-thirds of UK consumers buy or receive pre-owned (or second-hand) clothes, and there is a willingness to wear more, especially if a better range were available.
  • At HWRCs nearly 30% of non-clothing textiles were estimated to be re-usable.

We Recycle Clothes is the trading name of Clothes Recycling UK LTD, a small business full of recycling enthusiasts. You can be assured that your clothes will avoid landfill and be sorted ethically with the highest standards and industry practices.

By donating your pre-loved clothes to us, you have generated income for a good cause and helped the environment.
